Benefit Concerts, Raising Awareness, Legislative bills protecting and preserving more habitats, wilderness retreats, parkday (some cities have park day where they bring sod and grass to street corners set up with gazebo and bench for a day. it becomes a place of dialogical commerce and such simple experiences of being closer to grass and nature can encourage respect for, and therefore preservation of nature). If the city dwelling masses don't care about preserving soundscape there will be much less influence on government to pass legislative measures. There must be ways for activists to take things into their own hands. I am not yet sure what that looks and sounds like.
I would love to hear the ideas of others on this. I am confident the exchange will lead to better proposals on preserving the soundscape.
I look forward to the dialogue!
Your interest in Natural Sound?
I think natural sound can re-center, re-root us as individuals into nature, the source of our earthly life. If purely natural sound or compositions incorporating natural sound are played to larger audiences, via satellite or mainstream radio and other mediums, especially coupled with narratives involving the wild natural, it has the potential to re-awaken us on a larger, cultural level, to the needs and crises of the natural world.
My goal is to combine natural sound with recorded music and interviews in an effort to create a form of music, experimental and pop influenced, aimed to re-awaken connection with nature and spark activism on all levels towards preservation of, respect for, and communion with the wild natural.
