http://blogs.kqed.org/climatewatch/2011/02/14/why-the-pros-need-cit...The idea of going quietly into the field as a solitary exploration may have met it's match in the compelling new iPhone apps now being developed to encourage 'citizen science'.  Of course, ecological monitoring is needed to help protect and preserve natural bio-diversity, and that takes having good and reliable data.  But mapping shifting climate, habitat, creature density and other factors in what's left of our untrammeled lands may also leave it's own mark as the borders between scientific observation and the anecdotal are explored.  What's your take?
